You know you have a special car when you can leave Northern VA, drive through Maryland, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and up to Detroit, Michigan; hang out in Detroit and the surrounding 'burbs for four days, then make that drive back to NoVA and see only one other car like it that entire time! Does this Z belong to anyone here? I spotted it from the People Mover monorail thing, getting friendly with a green bus:

Got really decent gas mileage doing that highway driving - figured I'd throw the numbers out here for reference: First tank there: 22.6 mpg Second tank there: 22.7 mpg First tank back: 23.8 mpg And I'm still on the second tank. I think 23.8 is the best I've ever gotten. This is compared to the usual 17, 18 and 19 mpg I get driving around town. Two tech questions: 1) I often smell trans fluid on these long road trips, but not at other times, and I never see signs of leaking. Anyone know anything about this? 2) On my return trip, the temp needle developed a new condition. Usually it drifts up to halfway and then sits there, rock-steady. On the drive back home, if the tach needle went over 3k in fourth or fifth gear, the temp needle dropped and got real trembly. As soon as I dropped below 3k rpm, it went back up to halfway and sat there like normal. Search says it might be the black water temp sensor:
Just looking for some confirmation, but meanwhile I'll go pull that off and clean it out. Oh, btw, Bernie - quit trying to sell me stuff even in my dreams!!! On second thought, if you actually DO have that pair of slightly used but nice tires, I just might take them... :-P I'll leave you guys with photos of GM's very impressive world headquarters in Detroit:

What is this blue car?

My mom, standing at a glass rail inside the GM building. This is the rear of the building, looking out across the Detroit River at Windsor, Ontario, right at the big casino over there:
